Antique map of the municipality of Traben-Trarbach, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The title cartouche indicates the location of the town and the castle of Trarbach and other settlements. It includes part of the course of the River Moselle, a tributary of the Rhine, and although it does not have a compass rose, the map is oriented with the north at the bottom. This original map was published in The Hague by Anna Beek. She specialised in the production of maps relating to the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1713), of which she made more than 60 examples. The city maps and the battle plans stand out, in which Beek situates the most important events, maps known as theatres of war. In the cartouches she describes the situation of the troops and in the margins, by means of a key, the succession of the events. She married the publisher and art dealer Barent Beek in 1678, but after fifteen years of marriage and seven children they separated and she obtained the support of the court to take charge of the family business. From 1697 she again used her maiden name: Van Westerstee.
