Original antique engraving depicting a view of the city of Goa, in India. Published in Paris in 1751 by Antoine François Prévost d’Exiles.
The image shows a panoramic view of the port city of Goa, a Portuguese colony situated on the western coast of India during the 18th century. One can see buildings arranged along the coast, religious structures with towers and domes, and several vessels anchored in the harbour. The engraving includes a caption at the top with the text “Vue de Goa”.
Copperplate engraving published by Antoine François Prévost d’Exiles, known for his travel accounts and geographical descriptions of the 18th century. Goa was the principal Portuguese administrative centre in Asia from the 16th century until 1961.
