Original antique lithograph of the great Buxadell viaduct, created by Eusebi Planas Franquesa and published in Barcelona in 1855. It depicts a panoramic view of this engineering work built for the Barcelona to Zaragoza railway, located in the province of Tarragona, in the municipality of Montblanc. The viaduct crosses the Buxadell ravine by means of an arched structure that allows the railway line to pass through. The lithograph shows the bridge in its natural setting, with the valley and surrounding mountains. The Barcelona to Zaragoza railway was one of the first major railway projects in Catalonia, inaugurated in sections during the mid-nineteenth century to connect the Mediterranean coast with the interior of the peninsula. Eusebi Planas Franquesa was a lithographer active in Barcelona during the second half of the nineteenth century, specializing in urban views and public works. Lithograph on paper.
