Shaded plan of the city of Quito (San Francisco de Quito), extending from the El Panecillo hill, on the left, to the ‘Potrero del Rey’ (present-day La Alameda park), and from the foot of Pichincha, at the top, to the present-day Plaza de San Marcos. Published in Madrid in 1748 by Jorge Juan and Antonio de Ulloa, members of the French Geodesic Mission (1735-1744) in the Audiencia of Quito. In the upper right corner, the title is framed in a cartouche featuring a feline, beside the legend, which marks the main buildings of the old town: the Iglesia Mayor (Metropolitan Cathedral), the Palace of the Audiencia (Palacio de Carondelet) and the Church of the Society of Jesus.
