— Description —

Original antique map of the province of Cuenca, located in the eastern part of New Castile, together with the provinces of Murcia and Valencia, engraved by Bartolomeo Borghi and published in Florence in 1817. The map covers a broad area of eastern Spain, from the inland territories of Cuenca to the Mediterranean coast of Valencia and Murcia. It shows the network of cities, towns and roads that crossed these three provinces in the early decades of the 19th century. Bartolomeo Borghi was an Italian engraver active in Florence in the early 1800s, dedicated to producing geographical maps for atlases and illustrated publications. This map was created during a period marked by the political and administrative transformations of Spain following the Peninsular War. The piece is a copper engraving, a technique that allowed detailed reproduction of territorial boundaries and the place names of the regions represented.
