Map of the province of Carabaya, in southern Peru, extending from Cusco, in the west, to the western part of the province of Sandia; it includes a section of Sandia that formerly belonged to Carabaya. Published in London in 1862 by Clement Markham, a British explorer and geographer of the Royal Geographical Society, who travelled to Peru in 1852 and promoted the introduction of Peruvian cinchona into India. The course of the Purús river is highlighted in orange. It identifies the localities of Cusco, Marcapata, Ituata, Ayapata, ‘Usicayu’ (Usicayos), Coasa, San Gabán, Sandia and Crucero. The relief is partly shown by shading.
