— Description —

Map of southern Peru, northern Chile and Bolivia, covering the area between Pisco (Peru) and the mouth of the Loa river, in the Pacific. Published in Paris in 1764 by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), cartographer and hydrographer of the Dépôt des cartes et plans de la Marine. It identifies the towns of Sucre (under its former name of Chuquisaca or La Plata), La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Oruro, Pisco, Cusco and Arequipa. The relief is shown by shading, with Lake Titicaca and the Andes mountain range. The title and scale are in the lower left corner, within a cartouche.
