Original antique print depicting the convent of San José set ablaze by French troops, created by Fernando Brambila and Juan Gálvez and published in Cádiz in 1814. Ruins of Zaragoza. The print shows the religious building on fire during the Peninsular War. The burning of the San José convent was part of the destruction caused by the French army during battles fought against Spanish forces and their British allies. Fernando Brambila was an Italian painter and engraver established in Spain, known for his work on scientific expeditions and for his views of cities and historical events. Juan Gálvez frequently collaborated with Brambila in producing prints documenting war episodes. Copper engraving.
