Rare nautical chart of the Río de la Plata, published on the eve of the independence of Argentina. It was published at a time when the interest of the English in the Spanish colony was very great, for Buenos Aires had been taken by the British troops. This chart also includes a small plan in the lower left part representing the bay of Montevideo, Uruguay. Both contain nautical references, as well as scales in their lower part. The chart was made by H. D. Symonds and published in London in 1806. In addition to the present-day capital of Uruguay, one can identify the locations of Buenos Aires, Las Conchas, Maldonado and Colonia del Sacramento.
