Map of the Balearic Islands drawn by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin and published by the heirs of Homann in Nuremberg in 1756. A cartouche, topped by a coat of arms, encloses the title of the map, and just below are a pair of scales. The relief features are represented pictorially. Two inset maps illustrate the port city of Mahón and its fortified structures, as well as a view of the Balearic Islands situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, with France and Spain to the north and the Berber coast to the south. A 16-point compass rose with its lozenges radiates over the Mediterranean.
