This detailed topographic map of the surroundings of Barcelona was produced by Camillo Vacani in 1823 to serve the military history of the Italians in Catalonia. It shows the military positions occupied during the blockade of Barcelona of 1808. The map is oriented towards historical and military documentation, highlighting the fortifications, roads and strategic positions around the city.
The map presents the surroundings of Barcelona at a scale of 1:40,000 and includes relief sections with contour lines equidistant by 4 metres, which allows the mountainous and coastal terrain to be appreciated with precision; in addition, in the lower right corner, an explanatory text in Italian details the events of the war. A compass rose is also included.
