Accuratissima Principatus Cataloniae

Coloured map of the Principality of Catalonia by the Dutchman Frederick de Wit (1629-1706), published in Amsterdam in 1688. It includes Roussillon as part of Catalonia and features towns such as Lleida, Balaguer, Tortosa, Tarragona, Cardona, Puigcerdà, Solsona, Girona, Roses, Vilafranca and Barcelona. The title cartouche depicts putti holding a canvas. It retains its original hand colouring, with gold-leaf highlights. De Wit was a cartographer of the Dutch Golden Age, trained in Amsterdam in the circle of Willem Blaeu; after his death, his plates would pass to the firm Covens & Mortier.
