Since its founding in 2006, Bolivar Old Prints Anticuario has specialized in original antique maps. Today, it offers more than 4,000 maps and views from around the world, dating from the 16th to the 20th century; in addition, it offers travel books, posters, and decorative prints. The gallery has participated in several international antique map fairs, such as those in Miami (currently on pause), Paris, and Mantua (Italy). It is a member of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) and the Iberian Association of Antiquarian Bookshops (AILA).
The gallery was founded by Timothée de Saint Albin in Bogotá, Colombia. He chose the name Bolívar in reference to Simón Bolívar, a key figure in Hispanic American emancipation. In 2015, Timothée moved his gallery to Mexico City, in the antiques center of Plaza del Ángel, and in 2020, relocated it again to Barcelona. The gallery is now located in the Eixample district, near the Tàpies Museum and Gaudí's famous Casa Batlló. In addition to his work at the gallery, Timothée founded Bogotá Auctions in 2014, the leading auction house in Colombia, where he continues to oversee the books and documents department. He is the author of an article on the history of cartography in Cartagena de Indias, published in the collective work “Entre Líneas” (ed. U. de los Andes / Planeta, 2024; winner of the Michael Jiménez Award 2023–2024).
