[Plano de Valencia] Plan du Siége de Valence par l’Armée Française d’Aragon en 1811 et 1812

Original antique map of the siege of Valencia by the French army of Aragon between 1811 and 1812, produced by Jacques Belmas and engraved by Ambroise Tardieu, published in Paris in 1860. The plan depicts the city of Valencia and its surroundings during Napoleonic military operations, showing French troop positions, siege lines, city fortifications and strategic points of attack. The map clearly identifies the Turia River crossing Valencia, the main access routes to the city, nearby towns and the combat zones that surrounded the stronghold during the lengthy siege. This siege was part of the Peninsular War and ended with Valencia’s surrender in January 1812 after months of encirclement and bombardment. Jacques Belmas was a French military engineer who participated in numerous Napoleonic campaigns and later published works on military engineering and fortifications, drawing on his direct battlefield experience. Ambroise Tardieu was a prominent Parisian engraver specializing in military and scientific cartography during the first half of the nineteenth century. Steel engraving.
